Scholar House for Student Parents

Scholar House for Student Parents combines education and housing services for student parents working toward their degree. Qualified participants attend an accredited college or university full time while residing at Scholar House on Columbus’ Near East Side. The student parents receive supportive services through the OSU ACCESS Collaborative program to help them get their degree, while affordable on-site childcare is provided through a partnership with the YMCA of Central Ohio.

CMHA ROLE

As the first program of its kind in Ohio, the Columbus Scholar House for Student Parents is a testament to the Columbus Metropolitan Housing Authority’s dedication to the community. CMHA owns and operates the property in a public-private partnership that includes LIHTC and vouchers. CPO is the property manager, with OCCH, OHFA, the City of Columbus and Affordable Housing Trust as funders. Students receive affordable housing and wraparound supportive services thanks to this collaboration.
